My thoughts on Transformers 4

The new Transformers movie, called "Age of Extinction", came out this weekend and of course, since it is summer, I went to see it. I didn't expect it to be very good, as it was the fourth film in the series, but it ended up being better than I expected. The movie follows Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor who finds an abandoned truck at a sale, which turns out to be Optimus Prime, one of the Transformers. After a battle in Chicago, which took place in the third movie, part of the CIA has been tracking down all of the Transformers, including the good ones, and killing them. Also, a tech company called KSI has discovered an element called "transformium", which can be programmed to change into anything. The head of the company, Joshua Joyce, wants to manufacture and sell man-made Transformers to be used for exploration and battle. Cade, Optimus Prime, and a few other Transformers must stop the CIA from killing all the Transformers. I thought the plot was somewhat good, but parts of it were kind of hard to follow, but the movie had plenty of action (as you would expect), and lots of special effects. There were some great characters, including the "Dinobots", which are Transformers that change into Dinosaurs instead of vehicles. Also, instead of keeping the characters form the last 3 movies, they replaced them with a whole new set of characters. One of my only complaints is that you don't really find out much about any of the characters except the main ones. In conclusion, if you are looking for a movie with a great plot, then you should pick another movie, but if you are looking for a good Sci-Fi action movie to watch during the summer, I would recommend going to see it.

Food in Salt Lake City

This week I went to Salt Lake City, and so far we have discovered many different amazing foods, particularly a certain British snack food called a Jaffa Cake. We went to an Asian market to buy some noodles, and then I saw a British market and bakery across the street. Since I am fascinated with Great Britain, we decided to stop by. While looking around the store, I found Jaffa Cakes, which I first heard about from the popular British YouTube channel The Yogscast, and I decided to buy them. They are a small cookie-type snack, and they are pretty much a small circle of sponge like cake, about the size of an Oreo, with a bit of orange flavored jelly, and then chocolate on top.

After that, we went down the street to a Middle-Eastern restaurant called "Mazza". I had been there a few times before, so I already knew what I wanted: Schawarma. It is marinated and seasoned beef and lamb, mixed with vegetables and put in a pita pocket.

Website of the Week

This is my first website of the week, and I am doing it a day early. I will usually post these on Sunday, but I thought I would start it early! This week's website of the week is codecademy.com.
The website is called Codecademy, and it is an online program to help you learn programming! It is free to use, and you can learn many types of programming languages, such as JavaScript, HTML, Python and others. At the end of the lessons, you use what you have learned so far and do a project, such as a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Game, like the text-based video games in the late 70's, or a Pig Latin translator. It is a great website, and you can learn programming even if you know nothing about computers!

Lego Marvel Superheroes

I know I have posted many reviews today, but I thought I would post multiple so there would be more articles for you to read. Here is my first video game review:

Lego Marvel Superheroes is a fun game, especially for the Marvel Comics geeks who understand all the references and know all the characters. It has a somewhat original storyline, and you can play as many different characters during the campaign. The best part, however, comes after the story. Once you complete the story, you get to play as any of the characters you have unlocked, and you can roam around an open world New York City. In the open world, you can collect tokens to unlock new characters and vehicles, as well as gold bricks. You can also help citizens by going on missions, and do a race in a car, boat or plane. My only complaint is that there are many characters they left out, and replaced with pointless characters that have no special abilities whatsoever. However, adding in Stan Lee and Deadpool as playable characters makes up for that.

My First Review: Saturday Night Live

Since this is my first review, I thought it would be a good idea to review one of my favorite TV shows, Saturday Night Live! SNL is a great show, as well as a starting point for many great comedians, including Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon. There are many different sketches, each with great characters, and it also makes fun of and parodies current events and pop culture. Also, in each episode, a different celebrity hosts and appears in each of the sketches. There is also a musical guest, who performs twice in each episode, so you also get to hear new music. In conclusion, I think SNL is one of the best comedy shows ever made, and you should definitely check it out.
